Frequently asked questions
Do the files need to be in the same format to merge?+
For lossless stream-copy merging, yes — same codec, same sample rate, same bit depth. For mixed formats (e.g. merging MP3 with WAV), the tool re-encodes all inputs to a common output codec. The re-encode step introduces minimal quality loss at 320 kbps MP3 or WAV output.
Is there a limit to how many files I can merge?+
There is no hard limit in the tool. Performance depends on your device's CPU and available memory. For very large batches (100+ files), consider merging in groups to stay within browser memory constraints.
Can I add a fade between joined audio files?+
The merger does not currently apply crossfades. For smooth transitions, trim each file to remove trailing silence/applause first, then merge. For crossfade effects, use the fade-in/out tool on individual clips before merging.
Privacy first
All audio processing runs locally in your browser using FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly. No file is ever uploaded — only metadata counters are saved for signed-in dashboard stats.
