Frequently asked questions
What are the attachment size limits for major email clients?+
Gmail allows attachments up to 25 MB. Microsoft Outlook (personal) enforces a 20 MB limit, while Office 365 / Exchange accounts may be set to as low as 10 MB by IT policy. Yahoo Mail supports 25 MB. Apple Mail is client-limited but iCloud will reject attachments over 20 MB. JAD's presets cover Gmail and Outlook; you can also set a custom target for other limits.
Why won't my video attach directly to email even under the limit?+
Some email providers check the full MIME-encoded size of an attachment, which adds approximately 33% overhead due to Base64 encoding. A raw video of 24 MB may encode to 32 MB in the email envelope, causing rejection. JAD's Gmail preset accounts for this by targeting ~18 MB raw content. If inline attachment still fails, use the 15 MB safe preset.
Is it better to compress the video or share a Drive link?+
For short clips (under 2 minutes) intended for direct viewing in the email thread, inline attachment is the better experience — recipients see the video without clicking, no account required. For longer content or when quality is critical, a Drive or Dropbox link is preferable since it bypasses compression entirely. JAD is best suited for clips where inline embed matters.
