How to clean a shopify csv export
- Step 1Export your Shopify CSV — From the Shopify admin, export Products, Customers, or Orders to a CSV file.
- Step 2Drop the file into the cleaner — Drag the exported CSV onto the dropzone above. Files up to 2 MB are free; Pro removes the limit.
- Step 3Review the cleaned output — Check the row counts and preview. Empty rows, duplicates, and trim counts are shown.
- Step 4Download and re-import — Download the cleaned CSV and re-import it into Shopify without column-mismatch errors.
Frequently asked questions
Will this remove my product data?+
No. Cleaning only removes blank rows and duplicate rows. Original product fields are preserved exactly as exported.
Can Shopify or JAD Apps see my file?+
No. Cleaning runs locally in your browser. The file is never uploaded to JAD Apps and is never sent back to Shopify until you re-import it yourself.
Why does my Shopify import fail with 'wrong number of columns'?+
Usually a stray comma inside a description field broke a row. The Repair Rows option pads or trims rows to match the header so the import succeeds.
Privacy first
Processing runs locally in your browser with PapaParse. No file is uploaded — only metadata counters are saved for signed-in dashboard stats.
